Project Orca

Rule the Crypto Ocean with Orca Bot

What is Project Orca?

Project Orca is one of the crazy ideas where I wanted to create a bot that can generate high risk and high rewards of money in the crypto market.

What is the inspiration?

The inspiration for OrcaBot comes from a conversation with my sister. She wanted to invest some of her leisure money into cryptocurrency to aim for very high rewards, even if she got losses in her investment. So the high-rewards and high-risk idea is only for people like her, where she does not care about her investment in the hope of a really great return of money.

Journey of the project

I first participated in a hackathon with this idea, and we failed quite badly! This raises an interesting question: Does attending a hackathon benefit a project in any way? The short answer is no, not at all.

After that experience, I paused my project for a long time. When I finally continued working on it using Azure, I ran my first forward test after about ten days. Unfortunately, I encountered a bug that prompted me to upgrade to a Standard_B2s virtual machine for my project. Once I deployed it, my bot made its first successful trade, but I ended up with a loss. I realised that trading requires a significant amount of capital to begin with, since a 30% win rate goes to taxes. This made me estimate that my project timeline is likely to stretch to three years.

So, I’m building this project for the public, and I expect it to take three years with a continuous investment of money. I have been updating my code, but I continue to incur losses. After taking a two-month break to focus on cryptocurrency gathering, I managed to earn $440 in USDT.

What's next for this project?

If a project comes from a genuine problem, it never dies; rather, its solution changes its form. Similarly, for the next project, I found a method called copy trading, which helps me find the way I wanted to make my trades and make my expectations very clear. If future Deepesh ever wanted to revive this project, he knows who he wants to target.

What I learned from this project

I am a stupid man!! I am thinking I am a logical person, but no. But rather, I understand that I'm a shortsighted person. On behaviour points, I think I have to protect myself from committing to a project. While developing, I learnt the importance of human resources, being able to use Terraform (IaaS), and looking for so much information which is not my cup of tea.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

Even after one year, I have been stuck and continuously making Microsoft rich. I delivered to my sister a method that she had asked me for long ago.
